Getting to Pattaya from Bangkok Airport
Traveling from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya is relatively quick and easy with several choices to suit different budgets and preferences.
By Bus
The cheapest option is the airport bus. The buses leave from Suvarnabhumi Airport and take you directly to Pattaya. The journey takes about 2 hours. Tickets cost from around 150 Baht. Buses usually depart every hour from 7am until 9pm.
By Taxi
Metered taxis are available at the airport taxi counter on Level 1. The trip to Pattaya can cost anywhere between 1500 – 2000 Baht, including tolls and airport surcharges. Always insist on using the meter to avoid getting over-charged. A better option is Nam’s Taxi Service which starts from around 1000 Baht for Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya, including tolls. You will need to email them in advance with your arrival details.
By Using Bolt or Grab Apps
Apps like Grab and Bolt offer a convenient way to book a ride and are generally a bit cheaper than taking a taxi. Prices range from around 1,000 -1500 Baht depending on the vehicle type and how busy it is. These apps provide a clear fare estimate upfront, making them a reliable choice.
Exploring Pattaya: A Unique Thai Getaway
Located just 150 km southeast of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is one of the country’s most popular coastal destinations, offering a mix of big city action and chilled seaside activities.

Unlike the built-up metropolis of Bangkok, Pattaya is known for it’s more laid-back beach vibes – but it is also renowned for its many entertainment & nightlife options. Walking Street – possibly its most famous attraction – lights up after dark, offering countless bars, clubs, street food stands and restaurants that cater to pretty much every taste.
For daytime adventures, Pattaya boasts beautiful spots like Jomtien Beach and the nearby Koh Larn (Coral Island), where you can jet ski, enjoy water sports or simply unwind by the sea.
Pattaya vs Phuket
Compared to Phuket, Pattaya offers city conveniences, more things to do and more choice in the way of budget-friendly accommodation. While Phuket draws visitors seeking tranquil, postcard-perfect beaches, Pattaya caters to those who enjoy a mix of urban convenience and beachside relaxation. It’s true that Pattaya Beach isn’t as beautiful as those found in Phuket, Jomtien Beach in the south of Pattaya and Wong Amat Beach are better choices.
